The tiny woodcutter sculpture that has been on the branch of a tree since 1989 is gone. As is the branch. Does anyone know what happened to it.
According to Wikipedia (and sorry, the English is an awkward google translation from Dutch):
https://nl.wikipedia.org/wiki/Boomzagertje
"In oktober 2019 werd de tak, die tussen stam en beeld geknakt was en na een tijd lang vastgebonden te zijn geweest aan een bovenhangende tak, bij de stam afgezaagd Het zagertje is daarbij voor herstel teruggekeerd naar zijn (anonieme) maker.[1]"
"In October 2019 the branch, which was cut between trunk and statue and after being tied up for a while to a branch hanging above, was sawn off at the trunk. The sawer returned to his (anonymous) maker for repair."
So it sounds like the branch the Boomzagertje was on was removed, and the sculptor has taken the opportunity to fix the piece up a bit, very possibly before finding it a new home?
Thanks Kathy. I often walk past that tree on my way home, and all of sudden I noticed the sculpture was gone. I was afraid some idiot(s) had climbed out on the branch, broken it off and stolen the sculpture.
I'm so glad to hear it's gone back to its owner.
We'll hope that the fixed-up woodchopper makes a return appearance soon! :O)
