We will be in Amsterdam April 26-27 before we board a river cruise. I understand we need to buy timed tickets to Anne Frank House two months prior. On the website, it mentions that the tickets go on sale at noon. So (living in Chicago) do I need to go online at 5:00 a.m. on Feb. 27 to get tickets for April 27? Also, it that a big holiday?
April 27th is when the Dutch celebrate their king's birthday. There are street parties everywhere and Amsterdam is pretty chaotic (see https://www.iamsterdam.com/en/see-and-do/whats-on/major-events-and-celebrations/kings-day/all-about-kings-day-in-amsterdam). You may have trouble getting around on the trams--so plan ahead. The Anne Frank House will be open. Normally I wouldn't bother getting up early for tickets as long as you buy them the first day they are on sale, but because it's a holiday, I would get up at 5 a.m. Chicago time on Feb. 27th to buy them for April 27th.
Thank you for your reply.
