The Hague to Brugge via Antwerp or Brussels

If i pre book a train from The Hague to either Bruge via Antwerp or Brussels. Can I go out and explore the mid city for a few hours and then get on another train to Brugge instead of the 11 min layover it might say when i purchase it?

If you do not include a Thalys train as any part of the trip, your ticket should allow you to take any regular train that day. The Thalys requires a seat reservation and is train specific. You can check all this on belgianrail.be and the Man in Seat 61 (seat61.com)
