The Best Rijsttafel in Amsterdam

Hey guys,

I'm looking for the best Indonesian Rijsttafel for the most reasonable amount of money. Here's the ones I've narrowed it down to.

1). Blauw (16 course/Locals/outside center/modern/great reviews/a little pricey)
2). Bojo
3). Kantijl & de Tijger
4). Kartika (12 course/Museumpleinish/Ramayana 18,50/free H2O)
5). Aneka Rasa (Near Centraal Station/good pricing/less spicy)

Any direction would be appreciated. It seems like Blauw is the "best", but Kantijl & de Tijger seems like a good value. Let me know what you guys think!

My preference is a favourite of mine in Haarlem so I'm sorry I can't help you in Amsterdam.

We had Rijsttafel at K&T recently and it was good---you can narrow the choices down to six or seven items(plus rice) to be shared by two people. Several years ago we stayed near Keizergracht and had rt at Tempo Doelo and there were more dishes brought out but smaller amounts of each item. There are some really interesting dishes and they will guide you through it as to what is spicy, hot, etc. Enjoy!

On the recent Amsterdam episode of Anthony Bourdain's "The Layover" show on the Travel Channel, he named Tempo Doelo as the place to go in Amsterdam for rijstaffel. Having gone there a few years ago there based upon a guide book recommendation, we enjoyed the rijsttafel. The decor was pretty politically incorrect with photos of the bad old days (pun intended) of colonialism in Indonesia, but it's a factual part of Dutch history.

The top 4 favorites in the office for Amsterdam are Sama Sebo, near Rijksmuseum, Tempo Doeloe near southern canal belt, Kantjil en de Tijger, ear Spui and Aneka Rasa. Looks like 2 of the same are on your list. Haarlem I would recommend De Lachende Javaan.
