We will be staying in Haarlem on our visit to Amsterdam. We would like to see Swan Lake at the Dutch Ballet on a Saturday night. I think we would be leaving from the ballet around 11:30 pm. Am I correct in that we would take the Metro to Amsterdam Central and then the train to Haarlem? Would this trip be practical and is it relatively safe?

The Waterlooplein metro station is right next to the theater, Centraal station is two stops away. Service lasts until around 1am. It is practical and safe.

The last train from Amsterdam Centraal to Haarlem is at 0103. The one before that is at 0033, and before that there is a frequent service.
