Taxis at Haarlem train station ?

We will be visiting Haarlem next month on a day trip from Amsterdam. When we arrive at the train station mid morning, can we expect to find taxis waiting outside, or would we need to call for a taxi?

I tried contacting the Haarlem tourist office by e-mail with this question, but never got any response.

Thx.

We walked from the Haarlem Train station to the old town area. I do recall seeing taxis both when we arrived town and when we left. There was not, however, a line of taxis waiting.

If you have booked lodging in Haarlem, I would contact them for suggestions.

There's also an extensive bus network. Enjoy this city.

There is a taxi rank in front of the main entrance of train station (city side), but I am not sure whether there will be any taxis available all the time. The train station is just within the 17th century extension of the city to the north. Look at the map and you can see the pointy outlines of the defences. So when you arrive, you actually already are in the city.

Haarlem is a relatively small place with most of the sights in walkable distance. I would not take a taxi to get to the Grote Markt which is a leisurely 15 min walk. You can go through the Kruisstraat (more shops) or via the Jansstraat (more quiet).

We do plan to walk around the old part of the city, but first would like to reach a spot about 2 miles from the train station, and with somewhat limited mobility, we were hoping to find a taxi.

If there are no taxis at the rank, you may want to consider public transport. You can find how difficult or easy it is to get your location through the OV9292 website planner (https://9292.nl/en). Taxi Adriaan is one of the larger taxi company's in Haarlem (https://www.taxiadriaan.nl). Unfortunately, their website is in Dutch only.

As suggested above check with ur hotel or destination for a taxi to reserve. It appears from my Uber app that Uber is in Haarlem. We used Uber to get from our hotel to a train station south in Amsterdam and it was less than a taxi and worked great.

Uber and Bolt are available in Haarlem. However, they will not be allowed in front (city [Stationsplein] side) of the station nor in the pedestrian area of the city centre, which official taxis often can access. Car access is allowed between 6-11 am but outside this slot large parts of the centre are inaccessible to cars. Uber and Bolt drivers most likely will pick you up at the back of the station (Kennemerplein side) so you really need to be sure where the collection point is when you book a Bolt or Uber.
