My friends and I are taking a trip in September and will be spending a couple days/nights in Amsterdam. They arrive late evening on a Saturday and I'll be arriving early afternoon on a Sunday (I'll have been in Germany for about 5 days so I won't need any 'adjustment' for jet lag etc and they will want to get out and acclimate). Sundays tend to be very quiet in Germany and I've heard it can be like this in the Netherlands too. However, are there any museums or sites that could be done on a Sunday in Amsterdam/Haarlem or any of the other towns around Amsterdam? Those of you who have lived/currently live/or frequently visited Amsterdam/Ned - what would you do on a Sunday? Open to any and all suggestions.
As long as you aren't to go into a store to shop, it will be like any other day. Restaurants, museums and such will all be open, the trains run, the trams run, the canals are still there, the windmills go round and round (as much as they do on other days). Dutch families do family things on weekends. Gotta keep those kids occupied you know.....
Sundays are just fine,
Everything is open on Sunday:Museums/tourist sites, shops, and restaurants.
... and in larger cities shops are also open, if that is of any importance.
