Suggestion for Hotel near Museum District

I stayed at the De Ware Jacob boutique hotel a year ago this month and absolutely loved it. And it was a great location for the Rijksmuseum.

A friend who stayed there after me however suffered through a few days without the elevator to the very steep upper floors ! That wasn't much fun I think.

If you want helpful ideas I would suggest you to post some idea of a budget. A budget in terms of actual money, not in phrases like reasonable, $$ or moderate.
Without a knowing your budget you can expect all kinds of suggestions ranging from The Bulldog hostel to the Pulitzer.

Hotel Vondel

Hahaha Kim! Yes, that was me! I liked the hotel a lot - very comfortable and nice staff. I really liked the location as it was close to the Rijksmuseum and the Van Gogh which were the things I wanted to see. Plus I love that it is so close to Vondelpark because I enjoyed walking in the spring sunshine. I'm not a breakfast eater but appreciated the coffee machine in the room because I do want caffeine in the AM.

I did have elevator outages on 2 days. One "touring" day and on the day I left. This is a renovated old building so the stairs above the 1st floor are narrow and steep. However, as I was taking my suitcase down, a housekeeper saw me and sprinted over, took my suitcase and zoomed down the 3 flights of stairs with it, lol.

It's also close to a large Albert Heijn grocery store which is under the MuseumPlein. The entrance is on the end away from the Rijksmuseum so it was quite convenient for me. There are lots of tram line options as well.

I would definitely stay here again, even with the possibility of elevator issues.

I had a nice stay at Hotel Aalders a few years ago.

We stayed at Park Centraal Amsterdam right at edge of the museum park. Other plus easy to jump on tram to city center too. We found it easy to get Uber to and from the airport from this location.
