Staying Amsterdam airport?

I will be in Amsterdam for five days. Since most of the hotels are booked, is it reasonable to stay at airport properties ans Uber into the city?

There are only 3 real airport hotels, that are within walking distance of the airport terminal. All the other so-called airport hotels require a hotel shuttle to reach them, so they’re not ideal.
If the hotels in the historical city center are all fully booked, I would suggest to look into staying in other parts of Amsterdam first before deciding to stay in the area around the airport. Or you can even look into staying in nearby Haarlem.
What are your exact dates?

13-20 July price at Maxy by Marriott is significantly less expensive than most of the city hotels even with transportation

Do you mean Moxy? That’s one of these hotels that isn’t really near the airport. It’s located in Hoofddorp. It wouldn’t be my choice to stay all the way out there if I were to visit Amsterdam.

Have you looked at hotels near the Sloterdjik station? There are a number of chain hotels that tend to run cheaper than downtown, and you are just a short train ride to Centraal Station.

The Moxy is located in Hoofddorp. And yes, technically it’s in the vicinity of the airport, but on the other side of the highway.
But why would you stay all the way out in Hoofddorp for 7 nights when visiting Amsterdam?
In your opening post you asked if it’s reasonable to stay at the airport. In my opinion it’s only reasonable to stay at the airport when you have an early morning flight the next day. So for 1 night only, not for 7 nights.
I get that you don’t want to pay the high hotel rates for central Amsterdam, but there are still plenty of other areas to stay than Hoofddorp. Areas that are both nicer and more conveniently located to visit Amsterdam. For instance the area around Amsterdam Zuid train station, Amsterdam Amstel train station or Sloterdijk train station. Or cities like Haarlem or Leiden.

Moxy is not at or near airport. Last May, we stayed at the Holiday Inn Sloterdijk thru booking.com. Lots of rooms, great staff, good hotel. Cheaper than anywhere at airport or in Amsterdam. You absolutely cannot beat the location for transport access - it is right next to Sloterdijk Station. Trains, buses, trams to all over the place including airport , Amsterdam Centraal and museums. We were surprised at how early reservations were needed, but not at how expensive Amsterdam is. Lots of tourists..

Your plan is a bad idea. Stay the nights in a souless hotel on a highway? Why not look at a smaller town that is within 30-45 minutes by train from Amsterdam, like Leiden, Utrecht, Gouda, Haarlem? Any of these are 150% better than an airport hotel and just as far away.

Agree that the Holiday Inn Express at Sloterdijk is very convenient, inexpensive and comes with a good breakfast. You can take the train or trams depending on where in Amsterdam you are headed. It is a reasonable alternative if you can't find what you want in the city.

When I was there last year I stayed at the Sheraton that is connected to the terminal and the train station is easy to walk to to get into Amsterdam. I used points so I am not sure how much it costs per night.

I don’t think I would want to stay there for a whole week (speaking as a Dutch person). Just to be conveniently close to the airport for one night. If you’re willing to pay € 40,- one way for an Uber (which will take you about 25 min to get to for instance the central station area Amsterdam ), then you might as well stay at for instance the Crowne Plaza central station in Utrecht . You can easily take a train to Amsterdam (28 min), which will cost you € 8,80 one way and there also night trains. And that hotel in Utrecht is in a much nicer area.

We have reservations at the Holiday Inn at the airport in late July. What is the best transportation pass to purchase? We have read about the TripKey and the Amsterdam Travel Ticket but can't decide which is best. We will be there 3 nights before our cruise begins and will go into the city every day and use the city trams also.

We stayed one night at the Airport Hilton, a short indoor walk to the airport. On our way back to the USA, we found a good BnB near the Anne Frank House for $1000 for a week. It was the Hotel Nadia. The room was small, but we spent little time there. Breakfast was included.
