I am using the 3rd edition of the guidebook, published in 2018, and wonder if there are new or updated recommendations for places to sleep and eat?
Here are the updates on the website. You have the latest edition. The new one is scheduled for March. I would do more online research and not rely on an old (for a guidebook) edition, especially after the severe impacts that Covid has had on the tourist industry. I usually rely on booking.com to find rooms. The reviews are only from verified guests.
We loved staying in Haarlem. Found a flat by the train station through either Booking.com or VRBO.com. Cannot remember which but it was great! We ate our dinners in Haarlem and had a pass for the train into Amsterdam with the commuters. Just use online booking sources.
As to restaurants, there is. R.S. Recommended place for rijsttafel De Lachende Javaan. Loved it! Also the nouveau Mexican Popocatepetl is excellent near the cathedral. A Taste of India was good, too. We loved the ethnic diversity!
