Situation at Schipol

I will be traveling to Amsterdam from the United States in mid March. What is the situation for arrivals at the airport? I will be arriving at about 8:30 in the morning. How much time should I plan on between exiting the plane and catching a tram to Amsterdam? Are there slow downs due to Covid? Or are there any specific problems I should anticipate? Thank you.

There are no trams connecting the airport to the city, only trains and busses. Whether the bus or the train is more convenient depends on where exactly in Amsterdam you need to be.

“Are there slow downs due to Covid?”

I’m not sure what slow downs due to Covid you’re anticipating. As far as the vast majority of the Dutch people and our government is concerned, COVID is a thing of the past. All measures have been dropped.

The only problem you might encounter are the long lines for immigration. Especially the lines for those that don’t have an EU passport. Transatlantic flights tend to arrive early in the morning and several flights arriving close to each other will create some serious backlog at immigration. I recently arrived back home after a transatlantic flight and while I breezed thru immigration with my Dutch passport, the line for non-EU passport holders was enormous with a sign saying that the wait was 1 hour.
