My wife and I depart a cruise ship in Rotterdam in April. I would like to walk a short distance and take the tram to Rotterdam Centraal Station. As I read the tram website, I am not clear how to buy a single use ticket. The site refers to multi-use chip cards but I'm not clear about purchasing a single use ticket. I think a single use ride is 4.50 euros? Can I simply use Apple Pay on the tram or do I need to purchase something in advance? Thanks.
Buy a single ticket in their app https://www.ret.nl/en/home/travel-products/e-tickets.html
Thanks! Exactly what I was looking for.
I urge you to check back closer to your travel date. Currently a new payment system is being rolled out in all public transport in the Netherlands. With this new system all you have to do is tap your credit card, debit card, Apple Pay, Google Pay or whatever pay at the reader when you board the tram and again when you exit the tram. That’s it! No need for a ticket or special transport card.
Like I said, this new payment system is currently being rolled out all across the country. It’s already available for trains nationwide and for busses, trams and metros in some cities. As of today it isn’t yet available for trams, busses and metros in Rotterdam, but it should be soon.
So please come back to this topic in April. Or check for yourself at; https://www.ret.nl/en/
