SIM card with data while traveling AMS

Traveling to Amsterdam, Belgium, and Italy for 3 weeks. I have unlocked iPhone. Please suggest how to buy SIM card with data while visiting these places.

Not sure if I would need to make call, probably not regularly. Data is more important to me

Thanks

I recommend the Dutch Vodafone SIM. I bought one last year on eBay without even going to the Netherlands - used it in Slovenia, Italy, and France instead. Obviously you can just pick one up when you get to Amsterdam. Just go to a Vodafone store. I believe the SIM itself will be free and the largest "You" bundle will cost you 20 Euros for 3GB of data, good for a month. The EU has done away with most roaming restrictions now across EU borders, so this SIM should work fine in all of those countries (worked in Italy last year, anyway). I used all of 2GB of my 3GB of data over 17 days on my trip. I used Google Maps extensively almost every day (for walking/public transit), and I used my phone's WiFi hotspot to share Vodafone data with my laptop. I mostly used WiFi at hotels when available. I didn't otherwise use the SIM for streaming video, which would eat up the data pretty quickly.

I didn't use my Vodafone SIM for calls in Europe. I have a Skype credit and can make calls for a few cents per minute to any country. I think with the 3GB "You" bundle you get 30 minutes of calls to the Netherlands for free but otherwise have to pay a few cents per minute to make calls to other EU countries. If you have a Skype credit you could do what i do to make the calls that way. I think you can use any phone to call 112 (European equivalent of 911) for free even without a SIM. Every mobile company's plan is different - some may allow more calls within the EU for free.

Incoming calls and texts are free anyway though so you can always give out your new Dutch phone number to hotels etc. that may need to contact you while you travel - won't cost you anything to answer and talk or receive texts, the cost is in texting back or calling back.

Look on Google Maps to see where the mobile stores are close to your hotel. I'm sure there are mobile stores all over the place, but if you want the Vodafone SIM try to go to a Vodafone store to have them set it up.
