Schiphol - and Uber

Last month we landed in Schiphol late at night - past shuttle time - and faced a gauntlet of people of people funneling us to the apparently official taxi queue. We took one and the guy whined the whole time about what a short ride it was. (Still charged a bundle.)

We would rather do Uber.

However, i can't figure out where that pick up point will be.

Does anyone have knowledge of this?

Thanks,

Linda

I'm sorry to contradict Wonderful, but I asked at the Schiphol tourist information office and they told me Uber is legal. However, Uber in many European countries operates as a licensed vehicle--Uber X or Uber Black--not with a private driver--Uber Pop. Still, it's usually cheaper than a taxi. Recently a Dutch taxi driver tried to charge some Chinese tourists 485 euros to drive them into the city--as major scandal, see DutchNews.nl. So taking Uber might be a better option. Not sure where they pick up--but you can ask the tourist info office or the Uber customer service.

Yes, Amsterdam is clearly on the list of cities on Uber's website. You can get an estimate there, too.

Yep, legal. I would trust an Uber driver over a taxi any day. You know who they are and can give feedback. They get rated for each ride.

Just was looking for the answer as to where the pick up is.

Linda - We used Uber this past June to get from our B&B to Schiphol. We also used Uber to get from the Dutch Resistance Museum to our canal boat tour.
