I am travelling from Rotterdam to Munich at the end of June. I would like to take the train. Should I book through NS International or through DB because I am terminating in Germany? When I look at trip details for some trips, there are 3 or 4 transfers. What happens if I miss a transfer due to a delay?
Forget that you should just take a 30 minute train to Amsterdam Airport and take a direct 1 hour 20 minute flight.
There are 14 direct flights a day from Amsterdam to Munich for a reason: it is a route in demand since the train takes over 9 hours as long as you don't miss the connections.
I know it might save us a couple of hours, but we were thinking we would get to see some of the german countryside on the way. It will be our first time to Germany and even though we will be spending some time in Bavaria, we would like to see a little bit of the rest of the country.
Wether you book at NS or DB you will be taking the same train. And irrespective of the class of ticket you buy, if you miss a connection due to a delay you just take the next train.

I have not really found the countryside of Germany all that scenic on a 9 hour train ride, if you manage to stay awake.
You'd get better use of your time and more scenery taking daytrips to certain towns from Munich or breaking up the trip up between Rotterdam and Munich with a stay somewhere in Germany like Cologne to see at least the great cathedral there. There is nothing spectacular like that to see in Munich
Its 7 hours and 22 minutes if you take the 8:05 to Utrecht and connect to the direct ICE to Munich.
