We will be in Amsterdam the second week of May. I did get Anne Frank House tickets and, based on a recent post, also got tickets for the Van Gogh Museum. My question now is whether I should also book tickets now for the Rijksmuseum or is it safe to wait until I am in Amsterdam and book tickets just one or two days in advance?

I looked at the booking calendar for the tickets I looked at both the ticket options for just the Rijksmuseum permanent collection as well as a ticket that included the permanent collection plus the Franz Hals special exhibition.
The permanent collection only tickets have openings for tomorrow, Sunday April 22.
The permanent collection + Franz Hals is completely booked for Sunday but has availability for Monday April 23 for many of the visit times during the day.
If you want to visit the special exhibition, I'd book a few days ahead. If you just want the permanent collection I think you'd be OK on the day before. I do recommend you download the Rijksmuseum app to your phone as it is very handy inside the museum. Be sure to take your ear buds/air pods with you so you can listed to the narration.

Another option is to become a friend of the museum. This allows you to visit the museum & special exhibits as many times as you like for a year, without booking time slots. Plus you get a discount at the gift shop.
