Would you all say it is possible to see the Anne Frank House and the Rijksmuseum in one day? Also, how much of the AF is being renovated? Would it still be worth it to visit? And, what is the best way to get to each place? Thank you!
I am not familiar with the renovation situation at the Anne Frank House but these two can easily be done in one day. The Anne Frank does not take very long and the museum can take as long as you want it to.
we spent about 2 hours at the Anne Frank House. Make sure to reserve tickets ahead of time.
You can do both, but if you have to choose one, go with the AF House. We found the Rijks rather ho-hum (but I'm not a huge fan of dark Dutch art). Liked the Van Gogh museum much better.
We visited the Anne Frank House three weeks ago. It was one of the most memorable parts of our trip. There was no sign of renovation activity in the offices and annex where her family was hidden; however, it appeared they were reworking some exhibits in the small museum area next to the gift shop. This is a popular attraction so be sure to reserve your time slot online.
The house is located in the Jordaan neighborhood on the Prinsengracht canal. It's an easy walk from almost anywhere in central Amsterdam, but it's also accessible on Trams 13, 14 and 17. Get off at the Westmermarkt stop.
