rijksmuseum and cafe

I have booked a ticket for the morning at the rijksmuseum in april. Is the cafe worth a stop for lunch and do I need a reservation. I do know it is more than just a simple cafe. Planning on van gogh museum in the afternoon. thanks sue

There are 2 places to eat at the Rijksmuseum;
1) the museum cafe inside the museum which is just like any other museum cafe all over the world and doesn’t accept reservations.
2) the 1 Michelin star Rijks restaurant which can be reached via a separate entrance at the Museumplein. This is not a cafe, but a full blown restaurant. If you’re into good food it’s definitely worth a visit and you definitely do need a reservation. See https://www.rijksrestaurant.nl/en/ for menus, prices and to make a reservation.

I had a morning at the rijksmuseum, and lunch in the cafe. It was quite tasty. They seated individuals by themselves at a long table, and I had quite a stimulating conversation with people from 3 other countries. The next day I went to the Van Gogh, and had lunch there after wandering, and again had a fun conversation with other tourists.
