Looking for advice on places to stay in the Netherlands this July. I will be traveling with my husband and 3 college age daughters. We have 10 nights to spread between Belgium and The Netherlands. We fly into Brussels and out of Amsterdam. One daughter will be leaving us halfway and flying out of Brussels after night 5, so we have to take that into consideration and using it as a way to split our trip between the two countries. My current plan for the Belgium portion is 3 nights in Bruges (with daytrip to Ghent and maybe somewhere else) and then 2 nights in Antwerp. I originally wanted to just spend 5 nights in Ghent and do day trips to all places, but we are struggling to find an affordable lodging for 5 grown people in Ghent (plus we wanted our daughter to be a little bit closer to the Brussels airport for her last night). There seem to be more lodging choices in Antwerp and even Bruges. Bruges also kind of appeals to me as a "soft" way to start our trip in a smaller town. We enjoy visiting cities for the big attractions they hold, but tend to really love the smaller towns a little more.
Once we finish Belgium, I know we want to end in Amsterdam for our flight out and to see the main sights. I was planning our last 2 nights in Amsterdam. But that leaves me with 3 nights somewhere else in the Netherlands. I don't think I want to spend them all in Amsterdam due to cost and crowds and the desire to see a bit more. In addition, we are escape room fanatics and are hoping to do one or two of the best ones in the area...there are a couple of good ones in The Hague and also in Leiden. So, I was considering 3 nights in one of those cities (or even Delft). But then I was just reading about Den Bosch and am super interested in the canals and the Jheronimus Bosch Art Center. So now I am stumped. How to fit it all in without stressing everyone out? :)
Thank you very much in advance for any thoughts you have.
