recommended hotels near Schiphol?

Although I do not have any direct experience with their hotel near Schiphol, my wife and I did stay at the CitizenM near Charles de Gaulle Airport and found it clean, economical, and within walking distance of the airport. The citizenM Schiphol Airport gets good reviews on tripadvisor.

You can't go wrong with the Sheraton Amsterdam Airport Hotel. The hotel is literally a moving walkway ride away from the arrivals hall so no shuttles or having to go outside. It is ideal for those departing on early morning flights. You can stay the night before and request a wake up call. Then after checking out, it takes just a few minutes to walk to the departure area. Hence, there is zero stress.

As an added benefit, this Sheraton offers day use rates for people whose flights arrive early in the morning. For the day use rate you are allowed to occupy the room between 8am and 6pm. Two months ago when I flew in, our schedule had us in Bruges for the first four days and then return to Amsterdam. But our flight arrived at 7:15am and we were exhausted. Instead of going directly to Bruges after clearing customs, we walked straight to the Sheraton to get a much needed nap (we reserved this rate in advance). Then we woke up at around 2:00pm, checked out and boarded our Thalys train to Brussels to access our connecting local train to Bruges.

Be sure to reserve a terminal/runway view room as it is fun to watch all the activity.
