We are arriving at the IJmuiden port on a Saturday morning. Leaving on a 1:30 train to Paris. Bad planning on my part and sad to leave Amsterdam without seeing ANYTHING. What can we do (remember we have luggage!) for a couple of hours in between disembarking and going to the Airport to catch the train. Any and all suggestions welcomed. Thanks :-)
Drop your bags in a train station locker, rent some bikes and pedal around the city to "see" as much as you can in a couple hours before needing to head to the airport. That's probably your most efficient option given your limited time.
Appreciate the recommendation for a bike trip, only problem we are well passed our bike riding days. :-)
It would help to know when exactly you are doing this and where you’re taking a train to. Unless it’s an international train trip, your train ticket isn’t tied to a specific train on a specific time. And if it’s an international train trip, your train will likely start at Amsterdam Central Station with Schiphol Airport as it’s 2nd stop. So you can just as easily board your train at Amsterdam Central.
I would drop your luggage in a locker and take a canal cruise. Lots of canal cruises leave from right in front of the train station. You don’t need to book these in advance, just walk up and pick one you like.
