Recommendations for day trip from Amsterdam to see Dahlia flowers and Windmills

We will be in Amsterdam on August 10 and 11. We would like see Dahlia flowers and windmills. Viator usually has tour for "Day Trip to Zaanse Schans, Edam, Volendam and Marken from Amsterdam".

How can I plan a day trip on my won to see Dahlia flowers (should we visit Keuhenhoff castle for it) and windmills. We don't mind taking train, bus or Uber. Can someone please help us plan it.

Thank You.

I guess you may have already found the Kasteel Keukenhof website, which gives you an impression of what to expect (https://kasteelkeukenhof.nl/nl/evenementen/dahliatuin/). Having been there last year in September, I think you would spend around 1.5 hours looking at the 150 varieties they have planted.
Additional information on Dahlia growing in the Bollenstreek (around Kasteel Keukenhof) is provided here: https://www.visitduinenbollenstreek.nl/en/see-do/time-for-dahlias, with links to the individual show gardens. You may want to consider a day trip to this bit southwest of Amsterdam. I would suggest though to look into renting a bike once there. Some suggestions on how to get there and move around are made here: https://www.visitduinenbollenstreek.nl/en/plan-your-visit/how-do-i-get-there.

Thanks for the reply. Can I combine this with visiting wind mills? How to make an itinerary for both in one day?

https://www.molens.nl/vind-molens provides a searchable database of and map with windmills and their visiting hours. Quite a few may not be visitable. Just click on the mill on the map to find out, Unfortunately, the website is only in Dutch. There are windmills that can be visited in Amsterdam (e.g. Molen De Otter), Haarlem (https://www.molenadriaan.nl/en/) and Leiden (https://molenmuseumdevalk.nl/en) in case Haarlem and Leiden are your hub to the Bollenstreek

The map with windmills should help you plan.
