Hi travelers: We’ll be staying near the central train station and looking for a place for dinner. We’ll be at the VanGogh Museum late that afternoon, so could possibly have an early dinner in that area too. We’re looking for scenic, canal-side relaxing place and don’t care if it’s a bit (hopefully not too) touristy. Thanks for your help
What do you mean by canal side dining? Do you want to sit on an outdoor terrace next to a canal? If so, when are you visiting? We’re having a very strange summer with temperatures rising above 30C one day and nothing but rain the next.
Or do you mean an indoor restaurant? If so, it’s good to know that there roads and sidewalks adjacent to the canals in Amsterdam and that the waterline is well below street level. What I’m trying to say is that when you look out of the window on the ground floor of a canal side building, you won’t see the water or boats but rather cars, bikes and the buildings on the other side :-)
Also, what is your budget? And what kind of food do you like?
Looking for outdoor dining. It will be Tuesday evening and the weather looks fine. We like all types of food. I'm not on any type of budget but I don't want a really fancy place because we won't be dressed for that and that's not really my thing anyway
In that case Hannekes Boom might be the perfect place; outside, relaxed atmosphere, close to the central train station and right next to the water.
Thank you Dutch Traveler!
