We will be a group of 8 visiting in August and were looking at a day trip to possible Edam, Zaanse Schans, Volendam and Marken. Does anyone have a recommendation for a good tour company?

I don't know of a tour company, but if you're open to doing this independently, check out http://www.localbus.nl/ and see if they have a route that would work for you.

Check out ThatDamGuide. We enjoyed a 6.5 hour countryside tour in December. The route was a little different from normal due to winter closures but that should not be a problem for you in August. Rory also can arrange a private tour for you.

We had two full days in the Netherlands to see what we could (not counting Amsterdam which we did on our own.) We took one 8 hour Greyline tour each day. One went north and one went south. We covered an amazing amount of territory and saw far more than we could have accomplished on our own using public transportation. Granted this was a few years ago, but it might be an option for moving so many people efficiently.
