I’m looking for a wonderful Amsterdam experience in December. Does anyone know of any small properties which have lobby fireplaces & a cozy ambience with large rooms?? I’ll be coming off of a River Cruise & would like to find a large twin room w breakfast. I want to be in a nice, safe area. The central station area seems to be too concrete & noisy, but is that the most central place to stay? I see that Sint Nicholaas has a fireplace, but do any other hotels have a traditional, warm atmosphere??
The Christmas Light Festival will be on when I’m there. Is there a good area to be staying in in order to enjoy it every night? My dates are 7 Dec-11 Dec. Two mature ladies who want to see the best of Amsterdam. Thank you!!
If you like the Sint Nicolaas, you should book it. Amsterdam is not exactly overflowing with "small properties which have lobby fireplaces & a cozy ambience with large rooms".
We felt completely safe walking all over Amsterdam. Hotel l’Ambassade has plenty of charm but do not remember if there is a fireplace. It is right on the Herengracht Canal.
Thank you! I’ll check out the Ambassador!
We stayed at Hotel Fita in museumplein. We had a large twin room, table and chairs. Their breakfast is the best breakfast we have had at any hotel. I have no recollection of a lobby area, but I imagine their site would show you. Fireplace…doubtful. The museums in the area were just a couple blocks away: Rijksmuseum, Van Gogh, contemporary…and another that had Banksy at the time. Direct bus to the airport was just at the end of the street…maybe 2-3 blocks; I don’t recall exactly.
Thank you for your suggestions!
