Purchasing a Amsterdam Travel Ticket

Hello. My husband and I are taking a Viking Rhine River Cruise in two weeks. We are flying in on 11/11 and will have a day in the city to ourselves before the cruise departs on Sunday, 11/12. We are thinking of purchasing the one day Amsterdam Travel Ticket so we can take the train from Schiphol Airport to Amsterdam Central Station and use it to take other transportation that day. The website says you can purchase the tickets online and the company will email us a voucher. We use the voucher at one of the Public Transport ticket machines at Schiphol Airport to get our actual travel cards.

Has anyone else purchased these type of tickets? I am hoping to get some type of confirmation that this process will actually work. Thank you!

Are you sure you actually need the €18 Amsterdam Travel Ticket?
It will be much easier and cheaper to use your credit card to tap in and out. A single train ride from Schiphol to Amsterdam Central station will then only cost €4,90. A tram ride from central station to for instance the Rijksmuseum only costs €1,54

Should you still want to buy the Amsterdam Travel Ticket, just wait to buy it when you’re here. You can purchase it at the ticket machines at the airport. The machines accept foreign credit cards and can be switched to English.

We will be on the VC RG AB "Kara" on Sunday, 12 November 2023. I arrive in AmDam on Thursday, 2 November and my husband arrives Friday a week later on 10 November. Our friends arrive on 12 November (we said a "No No" but..) for the VC. This is actually what I am doing on Thursday 2/11/2023. Should I let you know? Marco & Cheryl Dulog Richmond, Virginia

I look forward to meeting you and your husband on the cruise! Yes, if you do buy any special transit tickets or you find using your credit card works to take the train from the airport, trams, etc., please do share. Enjoy your time in Amsterdam before the cruise!
