With 1 1/2 days in Amsterdam , how best to locate events where homeowners open their yards for public viewing?
We enjoy looking at native plant/landscaping /gardens around private homes.
My wife and I both turned 60.
Goal : relax, just our time together (so rare).

When you say private homes, are you looking for houses in Amsterdam city center with gardens or more stately homes with gardens around Amsterdam (e.g. Haarlem/Bloemendaal/Bennebroek/Velsen area) that would require some travel?

Every year in mid June there is a special “Open Garden” weekend in Amsterdam, where home owners in central Amsterdam open their garden to the general public. Unfortunately, there is no such event in September. So if you’re really interested in visiting the gardens of private homes, you should come back next year in June.

The garden allotments at Frankendael are enchanting! Recommend lunch at De Kas followed by a stroll in the gardens.
