We will be in Leiden the first week of April and then back to the Amsterdam area for 3 days the week of 20th(ish). Recommendations on whether to stay in Delft or not? HOtel recommendations? Other areas/hotels you recommend if not Delft. Thanks!
I’m not sure I understand your question. You mention being in Leiden in early April and in Amsterdam around April 20. Do you wish to stay in Delft in between these times?
Will be in Leiden the first week. The last week of our trip we will return to Amsterdam area for 3 days. Leaving the 4th day. Was wondering if Delft is a good place to stay and recommendations on where to stay there. I'm just meaning the area near Amsterdam not necessarily in the city of Amsterdam itself. Is that clearer?
It’s a bit clearer, but it still doesn’t make much sense. If you look on a map, you’ll see that Delft is nowhere near Amsterdam. It’s even further south than Leiden and is an hour away by train from Amsterdam. So Delft is not in the area of Amsterdam.
If you want to stay in the area of Amsterdam, but not in the city itself, Haarlem could be an option.
I'm also confused.
If you are in Leiden you are relatively close to Delft.
Do you want Delft instead of Leiden? You're not contemplating using Delft as a base for Amsterdam? If you want an Amsterdam base not in Amsterdam have you looked at Haarlem?
I have never stayed overnight in Delft, but I visited it as a day trip from Amsterdam in 2021 (I went to The Hague and then Delft in one day). I was impressed enough to plan on staying two nights there this March. I am also a huge Vermeer fan, so it has additional appeal. The "New" Church is very interesting to visit, as is the plaza at the base of it the church and the Delft Vermeer Center (be aware there are no original Vermeers there). There was also a lot of canal-side dining closer to the Old Church, and a much less hectic vibe than Amsterdam.
