looking for suggestions as to where to stay in Amsterdam in May. There will be two couples and be our first time in Amsterdam We would like to be in an area where we can walk to major points of interest for 200-300 us but clean and comfortable.
Lodging in Amsterdam is very expensive. I think you'll get more useful suggestions if you define what you mean by "reasonable" in terms of maximum euros per room per night.
Do you want a hotel or apartment? Is that 200-300 in US$ or €? And is that total per night or per couple?
You might start out by looking at booking.com, where you can filtr for location, budget, and amenities. And then book directly.
Many options on Airbnb in that price range. Would help to know a bit more about you: which attractions, whether you want to be right in the center of things (which can be a bit congested with tourists) or a bit (walking distance) outside.
There are a lot of variables. Perhaps you could find a few options and get opinion about the locations?
It is important to know what currency the 200-300 is in, Euros or USDollars?
We stayed at Hotel Conscious Museum Square. The area is quiet and there is a tram right in front. There is also a supermarket right near the Van Gogh museum. It was easy to get to the central area as well.
We like to stay in the Central Canal area
The Catalonia Vondel Amsterdam is in the museum district, about a block from the Marriott tucked away on a side street. The Express Bus from the airport stops 1 block away and the tram to the central station is located there as well. It is easy to walk to the Museums.
I picked a random night in May 2022 and was quoted a price of 189euros or about $215 per night.
I stayed here several years ago and was quite pleased.
