Peace Palace

I am in a group of 8 Americans traveling to Europe next summer in late August, early September. One of my 16 year old son's top requests is to see is the Peace Palace in The Hague. I see where you can go in the visitor center but need to arrange tours to get inside the Palace. I am having a difficult time navigating how to do this for an English speaking tour. I saw one comment that there are only English speaking tours on Sundays at 2. We are actually going to be there on a Sunday and Monday so that would work if that was the case. Does anyone have any experience with setting up a tour inside the Peace Palace and have any recommendations of how to go about doing this?

You can only book a tour of the Peace Palace about six weeks in advance--usually they are on Saturdays and Sundays. Because of the court schedule, they can't book any farther out than that. However, during some weeks in the summer they offer tours every day, so you may be in luck. The best you can do is to start monitoring their website about two months before your visit and check it every day. By the way, if the English tours are booked up, sign up for the Dutch tours. I'm sure the guide will be able to explain the major rooms in English for your group. The visitors center is outside the gates and easy to see at any time. It's modern but pretty small--I was disappointed but maybe your son won't be.

While you are in The Hague, be sure to see the Mauristhuis gallery--one of the top art museums in the Netherlands and not as crowded as the Rijksmuseum or the Van Gogh Museum.
