OV Chip card vs. tourist buying at counter price

Is there a way to get a cheaper price for public transit with an OV chip card or something? Where do I get the OV chip card? I don't have an address in Netherlands unless I use my Airbnb host's address. Need some suggestions. I plan to just take ONE bus to Amsterdam Centraal and one bus back to my place in Wormerveer. Thanks.

You need to get the Anonymous OV Chip Card. You can pick it up at a window at any train station including AMS. Although, if you only plan on taking public transportation 2 times, I doubt it is worth the hassle.

It would be ridiculous to buy an OV Chipkaart. The card itself costs you EUR 7,50, without the balance you need for actual paying your trips.
Buy your tickets on the bus, but make sure you have a working bank card! They possibly won't take cash anymore.

That NS ticket is only valid on the train. OP wants a bus connection to Amsterdam.
If the accommodation isn't too far from Wormerveer station, the train would be the best way to get in Amsterdam.

It is not ridiculous to purchase an anonymous OV-Chipkaart if you plan on returning to the Netherlands several times. It is valid for five years. That turns out to be a cost of €1.50 per year. I am going on my fifth trip this year and my anonymous OV-Chipkaart is valid till the beginning of 2020. It works on all transportation and simplifies payment. It is not that hard to add value with cash. It might be a one or two minute wait in line and the station employee is quick with the transaction as they know exactly what to do. I love it and have used it all over the Netherlands.

The only thing, don’t lose it. And always remember to check-in and check-out. Otherwise, the cost will be a lot more than €7.50!
