We spent last week in Amsterdam and are currently in Morocco. We fly back to Amsterdam on Thursday and then fly back to the US on Saturday. I know it’s a weird itinerary - blame the Skymiles. Anyway, we will spend Friday night at hotel near AMS for early morning flight on Saturday. That leaves Thursday night and Friday. We would like to land from Morocco and hop on the train for a great one night/one day destination. Considering Bruges but that seems a bit far. Thanks in advance for your suggestions!

Delft would also be a good possibility if you want a quiet place to stay that is very picturesque. There are a few churches there and the canals and flowers are beautiful right now.
We went to Gent and Bruges as well last week, but I would say from AMS airport they are not worth the train trip for such a short time.

Haarlem might be a good option. Direct bus from airport and back again on Friday.

As others have implied, Bruges may be a bit too far to actually enjoy much of it. I suppose Brussels would buy you a couple more hours, Antwerp the same, but finding someplace closer (Delft, Leiden, Haarlem) would be a more enjoyable option.

You don't say when your flight leaves, but I would get a hotel near the airport - the Sheraton is adjacent to the the airport as well as others.
Ditch your bags with the front deck and head out for the day!
Haarlem is a quick trip on the train 30 minutes, Leiden 15 minutes, Delft 45minutes.
Could go to Delft and stop at Leiden?

I so appreciate the suggestions! We have landed in Delft for the night and hope to spend some time tomorrow cycling around the area.
