Old fashioned city map

I would love to find a paper map of both Amsterdam, and Budapest, for help in planning activities. I have online maps, but I'd like to be able to see the whole tourist area / neighborhoods/ and sights etc in relation to each other. I've tried Amazon without any luck. Does anyone have any suggestions for me ?

Thanks very much !!

Luckily there's more in this world than Amazon: Barnes & Noble has the good old Marco Polo maps for both cities.

Alice, I always get our city maps at the bookstore (Barnes and Noble) before our trips. I also buy a packet of tiny star stickers and mark the locations of things we know we wish to see so I can tell at a glance which of them are in the same general locations: it helps me to group attractions efficiently.

I get my maps from omnimap.com

Bigger selection than a bookstore, though I imagine any bookstore would stock major cities.

I am very fond of the Streetwise city maps and used the Amsterdam one quite a bit on our last trip. They are laminated and tear/spill proof!

Streetwise maps have stopped publishing, so different stores will have different selections left in stock. Our store has Budapest but not Amsterdam.

I usually find the maps in the guidebooks adequate for planning, at least within the typical tourist areas. (But I do also save sites of interest on Google maps if I found them outside the book.)

You don't say where you are located but your local AAA has city maps for European cities that are good for planning. Also lots of cities have map stores with nothing but maps.

Some of the DK Eyewitness travel books have tear-out laminated maps. That's how I got my maps for Paris and London. They also have a map of the subway system on one side when the map is folded.

Streetwise is a good brand - I'm sorry to hear they aren't publishing maps anymore - but the Amsterdam map is a little wonky. It has part of the city on one side and the other part on the other side, so you have to flip back and forth to follow certain routes. It isn't well designed, in my opinion.

I love maps. We have a Europe map on the wall in the kitchen to plan our next trip. When I am in a big city I always end up using the cheap hotel free maps. They fold up easily to only the area you need and are easy mark destinations with a pen. Until I get there I obsessively study Google maps. Take a compass.
