Thanks for the new link. I'm really hoping the dispute is settled before I go next week as we plan to use trains almost daily. Just when I was starting to stress less about Schiphol, this happens... 🙄

We are meeting some friends in Amsterdam on the 17th. They have a sons-in-law who is Dutch. His parents think it would only be on Wednesdays.

I hope you are able to work out your plans successfully. Enjoy your trip!

We are doing the RS Heart of Belgium and Holland, ending in Amsterdam on the 17th. Our train plans were mainly to go to museums on day trips, so all's not lost for us if we can't do that.

Thanks, va! I hope you enjoy your trip too. The trams should get you to the museums in Amsterdam.

The last day of the so-called “relay strikes” is tomorrow August 31. Currently there are no further strikes planned. In the Netherlands, strikes are usually announced in advance and don’t happen last minute.

I’m puzzled about the claim from the parents of the Dutch son in law that train strikes only happen on Wednesdays. Apart from today Tuesday August 30, there were also strikes on Wednesday August 24, Friday August 26, Monday August 29.
Perhaps something was lost in translation? Or perhaps they meant to say that tomorrow (Wednesday) is the last day of the planned strikes?

Dutch_Traveler- Thanks for that clarification about the advance notice! (I'm on AMS—>Brussles and Antwert—>Amsterdam Centraal over the coming couple weeks.)
