Nice Restaurant to Celebrate a 60th Birthday

Am looking for a nice restaurant to celebrate to 60th birthday in September. We hope to be staying central, somewhere near where the river cruises leave from, but are happy to travel to a nice restaurant. There will be 4 adults and don't mind if it is lunch or dinner. Don't mind prices either because if I like one I am happy to go onto website and look up prices, reviews etc. Looking forward to your suggestions. Thanks

There are hundreds of “nice restaurants” in Amsterdam. From restaurants with 2 Michelin stars to restaurants without stars. Without some indication as to what you consider to be a nice restaurant or the type of cuisine you like, it’s impossible to answer this question.

We recently returned from Amsterdam. We celebrated my wife's birthday at MAX on Herenstraat (Indonesian Fusion). We also had terrific meals a little further afield in the De Pijp area on Van Woustraat ("Van WOW") at MOZO (Moroccan, and better than the tagines we had in Morocco), Spaghetteria (it's a small chain but really good), and Pekel Haaring. Take the #4 tram down Van Woustraat and get off at the Ceintuurbaan stop. MOZO is on the left side in the next block down. The others are further down on the same side of the street.

Our favorite splurge restaurant in Amsterdam is Lucius Fish Restaurant. The lobster bisque and dover sole are our go-to's. I wouldn't go in shorts but jeans/slacks and a nice shirt for guys kinda place. We actually saw a proposal there once. If you want to go, make a reservation. https://www.lucius.nl/en/

Luna’s is a delightful Argentinian steakhouse in the Jordaan neighborhood. Went there twice in March 2024 and it was packed both times and they had to turn people away. Make a reservation if you plan to go.

About 10 min or less walk from Anne Frank house so pairs well with that if you plan to visit. I highly recommend that experience as well. Sobering, interesting and educational.

Please consider doing research on a Rijsttafel (Rice Table). A very unique expereince.
