Nice breakfast spot in or near Schiphol?

My sister is arriving at Schiphol in the evening of June 25 and has booked a room at the NH hotel nearby. I’m arriving the next morning at 7.30 and want to meet up with her for breakfast. Is there a nice place at the airport before security? Or should I just take the shuttle to her hotel?

After we meet up, we’ll take the train in to Amsterdam Centraal to start our trip.

Thanks for any suggestions!

I am confused by your statement "before security". You are arriving, not departing, you do not go through security.
After landing you go through immigration (passport control), but only if you are coming from outside the Schengen Area; then pick up your bags and exit via customs into the arrivals area, where your sister will hopefully be waiting for you.

I would suggest catch a train to Amsterdam Centraal. Quick, and plenty of real Dutch cafés for your breakfast.

Kathleen's SISTER arrived the day before and went through security / passport control etc . Kathleen- the writer - is arriving the next morning . . So both of them can meet up After Kathleen has gone through passport control etc. Go to schiphol.nl and click on Dining . There's a list of all the places you can eat before or after security . There's also a coffee bar after sister has gone through passport etc. . Anyone can go there . I've eaten before and after security many times and all are very good .

Sorry if I wasn't clear - grrttgr, thanks for clarifying.

We may well decide to just grab a coffee if needed and eat our proper breakfast in Amsterdam. But if there is an amazing place to eat at Schiphol we’d love to hear about it.

Amazing - I don't know.

But if you want breakfast there is a branch of La Place near the doors, on the main floor to the left, as you come out of the airport. Just above the train station.

Very tasty, not expensive, very fresh - but I don't know that it is amazing....

Nigel, by American standards, La Place is amazing. :-)

Jane is right that La Place is very good . I've commented before that Amsterdam and Rotterdam have a La place after someone asked about where to eat dinner . Their hours are convenient for most diners and the food is prepared right in front of you . Works a little like a cafeteria .

Like a cafeteria, but with a better selection, and freshly prepared. I ordered grilled fish at one and they asked me how well done I wanted it, and grilled it as I watched. The cook turned to ask me "Now?" to take it off the fire.

It's great to hear these opinions on La Place. My sister may want to pick something up there for dinner the night before and take it back to her hotel. Can you get food to take away?
