Netherlands- TripKey

I am planning to spend 8 nights based in Amsterdam. Yesterday I received an email from TripKey that their service will be unavailable for an indefinite amount of time and I was referred to the Utrecht Regional Pass which is described as being "powered" by TripKey.
https://utrechtregionpass.com/faq/ It seems to provide the same services as TripKey. I am not sure if this is just a re-branding of TripKey, a merger with TripKey or an independent service using TripKey's technology. I could not find any reviews of the Utrecht Regional Pass. Has anyone used this pass for transpiration and/or direct me to reviews of the Utrech Regional Pass?

Thank you.

They have been saying the same thing for over a year. Never able to pull it together.

Now I love Utrecht but I wouldn't touch them with a barge pole, even when I return to Utrecht.

I don't understand why you would want to go all the way to the Utrecht VVV to get the card. Using an Anonymous OV works well.

It is a shame that Tripkey hasn't worked. Yours is only the first or second mention of them here on the Forums this year. A year ago they were all over the boards - unfortunately almost entirely negative.

If you do decide to take a chance on them please come back and report how it went. There is so little data now there isn't a good way to suggest thumbs up or down.

There was a posting on that Utrecht Pass a few weeks ago. It apparently has the same functions as the defunct TripKey and, despite its name, not limited to the Utrecht area. As with the TripKey the problem lies in the logistics of getting one.
Despite its downsides, the OV Chipkaart is the way to go if you have enough trips out of the city to justify the cost and the trouble to get your unused balance returned.
