Netherlands in two weeks!

So much helpful information here. Traveling to Netherlands with sightseeing days from the 9th to the 17th. We are a few days in Amsterdam, then a couple in Zwolle so my daughter can visit friends and then ending up in The Hague for Scheveningen, Delft and Leiden as well. While in Zwolle we plan to do an excursion out to Giethoorn Sunday afternoon. All travel will be by public transportation so I am trying to plan carefully to balance relaxed enjoyment with making the most of our time. We have one day to explore just outside of Amsterdam and since is a Friday, Alkmaar seems to be the best choice for the morning. Currently we are thinking we'll do Zaanse Schans in the afternoon and reluctantly give up Muiderslot with its castle. Best choice? If I'm understanding correctly, I think we want to get OV-chipkaarts for all our traveling within Amsterdam and beyond, yes? Thank you for any guidance!

I didn't find Het Loo palace a must-see, but the Hoge Veluwe park and Kroller-Muller museum were better than Alkmaar. You should make a list of good places near Zwolle, like Deventer and Amersfoort. Utrecht is as nice as Leiden.

Hi Laurie, welcome to the RSforum. We love to help people here, but you have to help us help you. If you provide details like who you’re traveling with (ages etc), when you’re visiting and what your interests are, we can give you specific advice.
Without knowing anything about you, it’s impossible to say whether or not Alkmaar is a good choice and whether or not you should choose Zaanse Schans over the Muiderslot.
What does your current day by day itinerary look like? I see a lot of places you want to see, but I don’t know when you want to visit them.
