What is a good app that I can use to plan public transport around the Netherlands?
Right now I just have plotted my to do list on the Google maps but I would love to be able to match it up with the tram/train lines to plan some itinerary days so I am more efficient in seeing all the things I want to see.

9292 app combines real-time data for trains, buses, trams, metros, and ferries.
Another good one is the NS app.
The train system is user- friendly, efficient, well-marked, and has routes to most towns several times an hour. The NL and NL International apps are great. Enjoy your trip!.

In 2024, I found Apple Maps to be very good with real time info throughout the Netherlands, just select public transit as your option when getting directions. I also used 9292 pre trip to help with planning, especially between cities.

Google maps has the option to show public transport. It seemed pretty good but requires mobile data (or wifi) and sometimes wouldn't load while we were sightseeing. The 9292 app was better at loading and also gives price information when you are planning. With any of them, set your travel time to a similar time of day and weekday/weekend as you want to travel. I had a few late night searches from the Midwest that seemed to have very long journeys, but the first step was waiting until the first train of the next day.
The NS app allows you to book off-peak train tickets in advance with interesting discounts (25%) worth checking (yes, I am Dutch). 9292 seems to charge a service fee the NS app doesn’t. It may be worthwhile checking the price in both apps if it involves trains during peak hours.
