Two couples of us are needing two nights, on a stopover. Our only agenda is going to Keukenhof. I'm assuming we need to be somewhere near the train station to catch the bus tour to the gardens, but we are totally open to suggestion. We'd prefer to have a 4* but would settle for a really good 3, depending on price. Thanks for any suggestions!
Haven't tried airbnb? I was in amsterdam a couple months back, one piece of advice I'd have is don't get tied up in trying to be too close to the main train station and old town area, the ferrys from one side of the river to the other are free and come every few minutes and it's SO easy to get around, I'd definitely recommend getting somewhere that has free bikes with your stay (most places will, or you could rent easily). Don't bother with uber unless it's longer trips, paid ferry trips are more a nice one off.
The Barbizon Palace across the canal from Centraal is very nice.
I recently stayed at the Kimpton Dewitt Hotel. I believe it opened quite recently - the interior is completely new and beautiful. It was an easy walk from the central train station. Staff was friendly and the room was very comfortable.
