Need some suggestions on early morning activities

My husband and I (just turned 70) are travelling to Africa in two weeks with 3 days stop on a way to and 1.5 days stop from Africa in Amsterdam. We’ve already got tickets to both main museums, walking tour as well as canal tour at the begging of our trip, but since we’ll arrive very early twice to Amsterdam, looking for some advice what can we do in the morning after arrival. Hopefully, we would be able to get rid of our luggage but considering the jet leg, what are our options to stay awake but still do something meaningful. We’ve already booked the private collection tour, but the latest admission is 10 am, I doubt we would have enough time with 7 am arrival

Both times we arrive to Amsterdam on Fridays. Are there any markets to visit?

Sorry, I don’t have any good suggestions for early morning activities. But when I have a very early arrival from an international flight, I often reserve the hotel for the night before arrival so that I can go directly to the hotel and check in. It’s worth the extra dollars to me to be able to shower and rest a bit. Sometimes I even arrive early enough for the hotel breakfast. Then, when I’m feeling more human, I head out for some walking and exploring. If you do this, it’s important to let the hotel know that you are actually arriving in the morning so that they don’t count you as a no-show.

Thank you. I wish, hotels in Amsterdam are cheap.

And sorry, I mixed the dates. On a way back from Nairobi we’ll arrive early morning on Saturday, June 28th. And still debating what to do or where to go outside of Amsterdam that Saturday and the following Sunday. Long time ago we’ve been in The Hague and Leiden. We love arts, architecture, everything European.

The RS guidebook for Amsterdam has 3 self-guided walking tours. There is also a free RS audio guide walking tour you can download elsewhere on this site. You could do some or all in early mornings.

On Saturday there is a great market on the Noordermarkt in the Jordaan neighborhood.
