Museumkart???

We will be in Amsterdam 2 days (with 2 teens). Trying to decide if we should purchase the museumkaart or purchase individual tickets. We definitely plan on the Anne Frank House and Rujkmuseum, possibly Van Gogh.

We noticed that some museums have free entry for those under 18. So would it be wise to get the museumkaart for my husband and I and purchase tickets individually for the boys? Is there a way to easily find out what sights are free for those under 18?

Thanks

You could look at the websites of the various places which should all say....

When you say you have two days, do you mean one night or two?

There is the good old Museumkaart. Gives access to some 400 museums in the Netherlands, but sets you back EUR 59,90. Is hardly worth the investment with your short stay. There is the recent phenomenon of the Holland Pass (http://en.hollandpass.com/) which also doesn't look very economical.
The best way seems to arrange your tickets online, which would not save you money, but spares you standing in a possibly long queue.
I'm not sure about free entry for minors. Check the individual museum websites.

I don't know how current this post is but here is some info: Child-museums

You'd need to add about three more museums to your current list of three above in order to get your money's worth out of the museumkaarts for you and hubby.

If you do add might I suggest any of the following:
Royal Palace (check to see if open to the public during your stay)
Van Loon Canal House
Willet-Holthuysen canal house
Verzetsmuseum
Micropia
Tropenmuseum

You're going to want to walk around and enjoy the sights so I wouldn't try to pack too much into your days. Depending on what days of the week you are there then there might be some street markets open that you can wander through. I tried not to plan for more than two big museums (Rijks, Van Gogh, Verzets, etc) in a day but you could. The canal houses listed above are within walking distance of AF Huis and would make a good visit. Have fun on your trip!

I don't know if you're seeing other places in the Netherlands. If you are, the Museumkaart is good for many museums all over the country, so it becomes a much better deal. If you're just going to Amsterdam for a few days and just seeing the museums you listed, it's not a good deal at all.
