My daughter thinks this can be bought only by Dutch citizens. According to my book we can buy it once we arrive. Is this true? How much is it and how many attractions does it cover? Also If we have t the year pass mailed to our hotel , about how long does it take? Please help clear this up for us
The book is out of date and your daughter is correct about the Museumkaart.
There is only a Temporary Museumkaart for visitors valid for 30 days. It covers 5 museum visits maximum.
You can purchase that card at any museum or Tourist Info Center.
There are other museum card type passes besides the Museumkaart.
The annual Museumkaart can be bought by any resident in the Netherlands with (1) local bank account and (2) local address to have it shipped. This doesn't concern citizenship/nationality but residency. Without a local bank account, you will be unable to pay for the card.
There was a recent thread on how to qualify for the permanent Museumkaart even if you are not a Dutch citizen. You need to be staying in the Netherlands for at least 4-5 days to make it work. I can't verify that it works for sure, but it sounds promising. See
