Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen, Rotterdam

Any idea when the Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen in Rotterdam will reopen?

Thanks in advance.

I couldn't find any info on the museum's own website. Google coughed up an AI comment that the museum is closed until 2030; I never trust unsourced info like that, but it could certainly be true.

The website listed below looks reasonably reliable, and it says: "Due to renovation and renewal, Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen will be closed until 2029. The collection can be seen in Depot Boijmans Van Beuningen and at exhibitions in the Netherlands and abroad."

I went to the Depot last year. It's convenient if you're in Rotterdam for other reasons, but to me it's not a good substitute for the BvB museum (which I saw decades ago). The Depot has some exhibitions possibly of interest (depending on your taste in art), but don't count on seeing much of what is in storage. I found there were only a very few opportunities per day to get into one of the storage areas, accompanied by a staffer.

New member Bean is not correct I’m afraid. The Boymans van Beuningen museum is still not open. The renovation is one big mess, both literally and figuratively and will take many more years to finish. Political fights over who has to pay, asbestos, troubles with architects and lack of funding are only a few of the problems plaguing the renovation.
In the meantime the Depot of the BvB museum can be visited, so perhaps that is what Bean visited today. As interesting as the Depot is, it’s definitely not the real deal and it only shows a very small part of the collection of the BvB-museum.
