Seeking advise for traveling to Amsterdam or Netherlands during: May 4th (Dodenherdenking) and May 5th (Bevrijdingsdag), 2024; will the Museums and sights be open? Will public transportation [trains/bus/taxis] from Amsterdam be available? Many thanks, Judi
If you didn’t already knew that May 4 and May 5 are holidays, you wouldn’t notice anything.
Everything you might need as a tourist from public transport to museums, shops and restaurants will be open and running.
The only exception is public transport which will temporarily pause at around 8:00 pm on May 4 to observe the nationwide 2 minutes of silence.
The national remembrance ceremony on May 4, is held at Dam Square with our King and Queen in attendance. The area will be very busy in the evening of May 4.
On May 5 there will be a free concert on a floating podium on the Amstel river, right in front of Theater Carré.
Thank you so very much... that is great news!!
