Four of us are arriving in Gouda three hours before we can get into our Airbnb next week. There are free luggage lockers available in town but I'm wondering how safe they are, and also, are we likely to get four of them? There are only forty available. Has anyone used them?

From what I found, they seem like a pretty reasonable option. The lockers are in the indoor bike parking at Nieuwe Markt, and the official site describes it as a supervised facility with 40 free lockable luggage lockers. For a few hours, that sounds fairly safe to me, though I still wouldn’t leave passports, cash, or anything especially valuable in them.
As for getting four lockers, there’s obviously no way to know in advance, but 40 sounds like a decent number, so unless you happen to arrive at a particularly busy time, I’d think your chances are pretty good. The only thing I’d keep in mind is the size, since the lockers don’t sound all that big.🙂
