Looking for Amsterdam Hotel

Amy recommendations for hotels in Amsterdam will be appreciated - especially those not included in the Rick Steves Amsterdam guide but in the same general locations as his recommendations. We'll be there in mid-June for 4 nights. Thanks!

They were getting pricey for us so we stayed in Leiden and trained into Amsterdam and were very happy doing that….Leiden is charming!

We loved our stay in two of the Sweets Hotel bridge houses.

It's not a traditional hotel. Each unit is a stand-alone miniature house along a canal. These were houses formerly built for and occupied by bridge keepers, before things became more automated. So, it's more like a vacation rental, in that there is no lobby or front desk. There aren't full kitchens, but there are mini-fridges, kettles, and a few self-catering supplies, and it's possible to order breakfast, if one wishes.

We loved it because it was a unique, Amsterdam experience.

In February 2024 we stayed at the Hotel Estherea and absolutely loved it. It is not cheap, but look at their promos both on their webpage as well as their Instagram. My daughter found a promo that included breakfast, so that was a huge savings which made this hotel actually less than other ones I was looking at.

In 2022, we stayed at Vergulden Eenhoorn, a quick walk to Amstel Station. It has about six rooms that are well sound proofed from the adjoining restaurant bar. The room, which included a loft was very comfortable and we would definitely stay there again. We booked via booking.com

The Nadia Hotel near the Anne Frank House.
Rooms are small, but hotel is at great location and cost us $1000 for 7 days. Breakfast is included and good.

Consider the Hotel de Hallen. It's outside the canal ring, but only barely and it's well connected via tram. Very cool Foodhallen (lively food hall with lots of good dinner choices) is next door. 20 minutes walk or 15 minutes by tram to Centraal Station and very comfortable.

I stayed at the De Ware Jacob boutique hotel near the museums about three years ago and loved it — but my friend stayed there a few weeks later and had to suffer through a broken elevator ! And those stairs in Amsterdam buildings are steep!

Steve - I am going to check out the Hotel de Hallen. Loved Foodhallen !

I stayed at the Toren. It is right around the block from the Anne Frank house. I loved it, and it had an interior garden patio where you can sit in nice weather to have a drink.

It might be a little hard to get hotel reservations for mid-June. I'm planning a trip in September (to a different location) and am finding a lot of hotels do not have availability, but I guess it depends on location.
