4 Architecture students looking for lodging options in Amsterdam. They have independent travel week to study for 4 days. They will be flying in from Lyon. Looking for a safe and budget friendly options. They have Rick's Europe Through the Back Door book but it does not have any lodging suggestions. I guess we bought the wrong book for him to take. The new Netherlands book does not publish until April and they are traveling in March. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks
This youth hostel (if they don't have big money) is in the heart of it all and has a great breakfast

They have quads (rooms for 4) with an ensuite bathroom.
Yep, Europe Through the Back Door is more of a general travel handbook.
If they wanted they could download the e-book for the Netherlands and be able to access immediately. It would not be the updated version, though.
There is also a Generator hostel in Amsterdam. I have had good luck with those in Stockholm and Copenhagen (I really preferred the one in Stockholm though).
Thank you so much for the tips. I have sent them to my son.
Generator is very much a "party hostel" - good if they're into booze and partying but not really for a peaceful night's sleep!
