Lodging near Cruise Ship Terminal Amsterdam

My wife and I will fly into Amsterdam a couple of days before we depart on a Baltic Cruise May 19, 2017. Any suggestions on lodging within walking distance of the Cruise Terminal? We will each have luggage consisting of a standard size checked bag (wheeled) and a carry on. We'd prefer to stay in a smaller place with a private bathroom. Thanks for any suggestions.

There is Moevenpick hotel right at the Cruise Terminal. Not really a smaller place, but it sure is convenient. Tram stop from the train station just across the pedestrian bridge.

I just booked at the Hotel Brouwer. It looks like a delightful place and gets good reviews. (It's listed in Rick Steves' book "Amsterdam and the Netherlands".) Only eight rooms, so definitely qualifies as small.

Do you need an elevator? I don't think the Brouwer has one.

We have stayed at Hotel Brouwer, some rooms are accessible by a (small) elevator the room we were in was not, which we knew and was fine..the steps were STEEP though so if this is an issue check. Very funky hotel, maybe 10 min walk from Centraal Station, on a canal.

Thanks for the info. We'll check the Hotel Brouwer. Elevator not a big deal unless 4 levels (or more) above ground level.
We checked a couple hotels we had previous knowledge of and they're both booked for May 17 and 18, 2017. What's going on in Amsterdam Wednesday and Thursday in mid-May? We would also consider lodging out a bit from center city, but the hotel would have to be near a tram stop, we don't mind pulling luggage a 100 meters or so, but don't want to lug-luggage for 500+ meters.

By the way we board our ship at the PietHeinkade #27 terminal (near Centraal Station), not IJmuiden.

We have stayed at the Movenpick and very much enjoyed watching the small ships come and go. Funny bathroom doors, tho. There is a Doubletree as well as 2 Ibis by Centraal Station, and several others- easy to get to from Centraal, and you can catch the tram for the two stops out to the Cruise Terminal. I see you prefer something smaller, but personally,I prefer to sleep away from the cruise terminal or the Dam. There are such lovely neighborhoods not far away, and IMHO well worth a taxi or a long walk with luggage to the tram. I miss the Hestia hotel, and the low prices of the Pulitzer in the early 80's.

BTW, there is a great little shop with items only made in the Netherlands next to the Cruise Terminal ( in the same building but facing the street), worth a look. Enjoy the Baltic- have done that cruise twice and liked it very much.

If you are looking at smaller hotels for next May, it's more likely that they aren't taking bookings yet than that they are full up. They may not have their 2017 rates until around year end.
