Lodging in Amsterdam canal houseboat

Is it possible to rent a houseboat on an Amsterdam canal for a few days?
Would like to keep the cost to $175 to $225 a night for one in the central
part of the city.

It’s definitely possible to rent a canal boat in Amsterdam. Rentals are advertised all over the Internet.
Whether it’s possible to rent one for around €200 per night depends entirely on when you plan to visit. Hotel rates in Amsterdam are heavily date dependent.

I'm not interested in renting the entire vessel, just part of it instead of a
hotel or airbnb room for wife and I.

I would check on AirBnB and booking.com. You should also look at the Sweets, which are disused bridge houses. I have not stayed in one but absolutely would be if I were not visiting Amsterdam with a friend I don't want to share a bed with.

The bridge houses sound fun. As we now live on a Seattle houseboat, we can
deal with small spaces. I'll check them out. Would want a central location so
we can easily use public transportation. Thanks.
